2011: A recap

"To this day the turtle bears those cracks upon its shells to remind it that it's not a bird. And we bear our bodies, our fabulous and failing bodies, to remind us that we're humans and not angels."

This year has been an amazing year.

I have been doing Year 1 of the Bachelor of Social Services in Counselling at Otago Polytechnic and it has been amazing. Finished the year with an A+ for every paper. Next year I will be seeing real clients with real issues, which is both nerve-racking and extremely exciting! I think what I have noticed about this year is how I have come to treat people with a lot more grace, and realise that behind people's sometimes very irritating behaviours, there is a deep-seated reason for why people act that way, and it is seldom even a conscious choice.

Other awesome things about this year have been getting more active: going on regular tramps, walking half-marathon, doing weight training and kickboxing!

In addition I joined the local Dunedin Zen group and went along a few times to meditate with them which was a very cool experience.

Just want to wish you guys a happy Christmas!
